Announcing the 2025 Bursary recipient a multi-disciplinary company One Two One Two led by Zoe Ní Riordáin and Maud Lee.

In accepting the award they said "We are at a stage in our career and practice where we are confident in our work. As makers we have always been rigorous in our research and development process. This bursary offers us the opportunity to challenge ourselves to go further with this rigour, to deepen our understanding of movement and let our imaginations be limitless. We will be led by Emma's spirit of courage, curiosity and ambition and follow her motto of "Go big or go home!" Thank you this amazing opportunity. We are very grateful."

 

ABOUT 

One Two One Two is a multi-disciplinary company led by Zoe Ní Riordáin and Maud Lee. They make heartfelt, collaborative and original work in English and Irish. Their theatre projects include the highly acclaimed The Well Rested Terrorist, Recovery (Romilly Walton Masters award), Everything I Do (Best Performer Fringe awards). Since 2020, they have made a suite of award-winning Irish language films inspired by the opera Carmen; Dúirt Tú (you said), Tar Anseo (come here) and Éist liom (listen to me). They have toured Ireland, Paris, Edinburgh Fringe 2019. Maud and Zoe co-directed The Sound of The Northside with the Kabin Crew in Knocknaheeny, a hip-hop opera featuring Irish National Opera ensemble. They wrote the Kabin Christmas Special for RTÉ Television. They are co-artistic directors, with Zoe leading on creative development, and Maud leading on strategic development, and they share the artistic direction of the company, alternating between writing, directing and performing in the work.

Zoe Ní Riordáin

Zoe Ní Riordáin is a theatre, filmmaker and musician from Dublin, committed to making challenging and heartfelt work with a spirit of adventure. Her practice as a writer, director, songwriter and performer is based on collaboration and drawing from a wide range of disciplines. Zoe is co-artistic director of One Two One Two with Maud Lee. Their award-winning work in theatre, film and music has toured nationally and internationally since 2014. Film projects include Tar Anseo (come here) featuring Seána Kerslake and Peter Coonan (Best Director award at Fastnet Film Festival ’23, Dúirt Tú (you said), (Best Director at Cork International Film Festival 2020). Zoe was a 2023 Clore Fellow. She was selected as a participant in X-Pollinator, a film initiative of Screen Ireland in 2024. In 2024, Zoe co-directed ‘Sound Of The Northside’  a hip-hop opera with Kabin Studio, Cork in collaboration with Irish National Opera. She is currently directing a music/theatre piece, ‘History of Life’ for Spoleto Festival USA featuring Iarla Ó Lionaird.

Maud Lee
Maud Lee is a theatre and film maker, musician and performer, working primarily with the company One Two One Two which she founded with Zoe Ní Riordáin. As co-artistic directors, Zoe and Maud have created experimental, multi-disciplinary work since 2014. They make ambitious, heartfelt work for theatre, film and music in Irish and English. Selected projects include short films Dúirt Tú ( winner best director Cork Film Festival ) and Tar Anseo (winner of Best Direction at Fastnet Film Festival), theatre/music piece Everything I Do (winner of Best Performer Dublin Fringe 2018) and Sound of the Northside, a hip- opera in collaboration with Kabin Studio, Cork. Maud performs and co-directs the projects, and as a trained violinist and songwriter, focuses on the music aspect of the work.
